At the beginning we spoke about the strike. You explained  your point of view. You spoke about your nephew’s experience, that he must pay a lot of money to pay his loan back. After that you showed us a video of a Sorbonne’s president speech. I think it was good because it is interesting to know different points of view. It allows us to open our mind, and nobody can have the pretence pretend that he doesn’t know what happen is happening. Everyone is free to think what he wants but, for that, we have to know the controversy.

After that we watched a video of a scientist which spoke about statistics and there danger. For me he spoke really too quickly. It was difficult to take notes, because when we wrote something we didn’t couldn’t listen. When I was in “prépa” I had oral exams during which we had to resume and comment a text. But we could listen the text three times. The first I just listened, the second and the third I took notes because it was easier, I understood better. On Tuesday we just listened once the text and we wrote a summary. I think our summaries weren’t very good. But it is a good exercise; if we go abroad we have to understand everybody, even if he they speak very quickly.

Know I would like to conclude about all classes. We study English during many years, and we should be bilingual. I think this year we haven’t got don’t have enough English lessons. Even if I know we had to train us at for a reading exam, I’d rather spoke speak more. May be organizing debates, to trivialize the fact of spoken speaking and to stop the fear of mistakes. For example, I know I’m not good in at grammar and it seems to be a big problem when I am in class. But I know that when I’m abroad I’m able to speak with strangers and they understand me, and sometimes correct me. I think that in other countries they start to learn English by talking among themselves, and learn grammar after. May be it is a good thing, in any case I think so.

Thanks for your education.

During this class we had a long text which deals with the price of free paper. The subject of this text was interesting for ourselves us because many of us will be researchers. Each student had to made make questions about a part of the text and note the vocabulary that he didn’t understood.understand  After a while, we had to answer at all the questions just in skimming of the text.

I found this exercise interesting to learn how answer at questions without understanding or reading all the text. But it was frightening that a big part of us (and me of course) made basics mistakes to write questions.

I think there is a real problem with our level in English. For the next week I have a report to do in nanophysics and all the documents I have are in English. I have of course to read and understand them, and I found that I make progress. Thus far, I just watched films and series in English but now I think I will read text too.

24 February:

During this class we saw witch form will have the written exam what the written exam will be like. To do this, we had a text and questions witches which deal with light pollution. First, we saw the importance of questions, it is imperative to read and understand them before writing anything. As we were not a lot there were not a lot of us  it was easier to speak. We learned vocabulary about light pollution, and I think it is a useful vocabulary because it can help us abroad. We also watched a video about a group who lit of switch off all the shop’s signs during the night and an animation about the airplane’s traffic.

For me it was important to saw see an exercise like the exam because we didn’t know how it will be and we need to train us. But the video were was in French, maybe if we have to watch another video it can be in English.

We were in groups of two or three.

We had a text, and we had to read it and to resume it. After that we made graphics graphs which represents represented all the information of the text. With that we resumed our text at to a person of another group and he did the same thing. Then, we wrote a little summery of his text and we had check it.

So we spoke a lot in English, even between us ourselves. It was good for me to learn a new vocabulary which is specific because the texts deal with not common subject. It was interesting to spoke speak about a text whose we just had a summery  which we had to summerize in graph form.

During this first class we went on internet to do an English test. It was for listening. We had to hear people who spoke and answered at several questions.

The last exercise was about Egypt and mummies and thanks to it I learned some new words. For me it was good to start with this exercise because I needed to remember a lot of things in English.

  •  27 January:

In this second class we had to make a survey, and I didn’t know what does this mean. In groups we prepare prepared five questions about a subject of our choice and we asked them at the others we asked the others some questions.  After, we had presented our results in graph form. Subjects were: food, homework, alcohol and computers.

It was good to train us public speaking.

During this class we had to create our own blog on edublog in order to write our class report. It is important to know how to use computers because it is the future. The problem was that computers were very slow and we were not able to do it quickly. I think it’s a pity because we hadn’t spoken didn’t speak English a lot.
